I come into your home and assist with your family’s needs after childbirth. I provide emotional, physical and spiritual support for new parents. I’m able to provide assistance with childcare while you sleep, shower, run errands, or take a break to recharge. I offer guidance and information related to different topics. I provide extended and overnight childcare as well if you need to attend an event away from home, get some much needed sleep, or go out of town. I’m also available for daytime visits, observation and assistance.
I encourage informed decision making and self-advocacy, support the choices of the family, provide non-clinical/non-medical care, and offer appropriate resources when my observance or counseling reveals situations that require healthcare attention or additional support.
Through observation, I see where guidance may be needed. My observations help me create a customized routine that’s best for your whole family and is based off of your baby’s natural patterns. I’m also happy to offer recommendations for essential baby items and my personal favorites that are tried and true.
I enjoy helping you understand your child’s developmental phases. I encourage age-appropriate communication, talking to your child even as a newborn, comforting them and learning to read their ‘cues’. Humans learn through language, and babies learn to trust their caregivers when their needs are consistently met.
It is important to talk to your child, and attend to their cries for help, at all ages. Emotional development begins immediately as humans are emotional beings. Being attentive and comforting your baby teaches them to trust you will meet their needs. Which means a happier, healthier, more secure baby.
I generally work with families as a night nanny and postpartum doula for the first 6-12 months, about 3-4 nights per week, but have stayed for longer or shorter periods of time to assist. I’m also available for shorter daytime visits, observation and assistance.
